Royal Shakespeare Theatre
Waterside, Stratford-upon-Avon
The first theatre to be built in honour of Shakespeare opened in Stratford in 1879. Most of this building was destroyed by fire in 1926, but it was rebuilt and re-open in 1932. The RST is currently undergoing a major transformation and will reopen in 2010. The Courtyard Theatre is the Company’s main theatre while the RST is closed.

The Swan Theatre
Waterside, Stratford-upon-Avon
An Elizabethan style galleried playhouse built inside the original theatre. Opened in 1986, it stages the plays of Shakespeare and his contemporaries. As part of the transformation of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, the Swan is currently closed.

The Courtyard Theatre
Southern Lane
, Stratford-upon-Avon
Built on the site of The Other Place, The Courtyard Theatre is the RSC’s new performance space with a thrust stage and seating for 1000 people. The theatre is hugely popular with audiences and actors alike. The shape and scale of the auditorium is similar to that proposed for the transformed Royal Shakespeare Theatre and is now the Company’s main theatre whilst the RST is closed for transformation.

The venue for variety shows, classical music, concerts, big band, pantomime and dance nights. Licensed bar.

The Bandstand on the Recreation Ground has bands on some Sunday afternoons during the summer.

BOAT TRIPS AND BOAT HIRE
Rowing boats, punts and canoes can be hired by the hour from Swan's Nest Boathouse, Swan's Nest Lane, or from next to the ferry. Cruises along the River Avon embark from The Boatyard, Clopton Bridge (E3), Swan's Nest Boathouse, and from the Bancroft Gardens.
